Ukraine has a permanent headquarters to prepare for the next heating season. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a Government meeting on 10 May.

“We attach great importance to the decentralisation of the energy system. The Energy Efficiency Fund has launched the GreenDIM programme. Condominiums can receive up to UAH 1 million for the installation of solar power systems and up to UAH 2 million for the installation of heat pumps,” the Prime Minister said.

He added that the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities had decided that new power generation facilities would be connected to the grid under a simplified procedure and without paying the connection fee.

“We expect that in the next six months we will be able to significantly decentralise our energy system,” Denys Shmyhal said.

The Prime Minister noted that the situation in the energy sector was currently one of the most difficult. Repairs to the grid and power generation are being carried out around the clock.

According to the Head of Government, Ukraine was forced to import a third more electricity in April than in March. Ukrenergo is constantly engaging assistance from Ukraine’s neighbours, he said.

Denys Shmyhal once again urged people to save electricity, especially in the evening.
