
Fires in natural ecosystems in Luhansk region that broke on September 30 and October 1, were eliminated
As of 9:00 a.m. on October 8, all fires in natural ecosystems in Luhansk region were eliminated. SES units, including units from other regions, will remain on duty in Luhansk region through October 8-9.
As was reported earlier the extinguishing fires in natural ecosystems that occurred on September 30 and October 1 continued in Luhansk region for a week. The most difficult situation developed along the line of demarcation in the territory of Stanychno-Luhansk, Novoaidar, Severodonetsk areas, where 32 settlements fell into the affected area.
The main efforts of the SES were aimed at protecting the settlements, field artillery of the Armed Forces near the village of Borovenky and gas distribution station on the outskirts of the village of Olexandrivka. Due to the integrated use of ground forces and aircraft, the fire was not allowed to spread to settlements, and there was no need for evacuation.
According to preliminary estimates, the approximate area covered by the fire is more than 20 thousand hectares.
150 people were evacuated during firefighting.
During the forest fires, the bodies of 11 people were found, of which: 3 people died as a result of poisoning by combustion products, 1 person - from burns, 3 people - due to heart attacks and 4 people, the cause of death is being established. 19 people were injured (including 3 SES officers).
Information on the destruction and damage of residential buildings and infrastructure is being clarified by local authorities.
