Tax on digital giants has brought Ukraine over UAH 6.9 billion in the first four months of 2026
Global digital giants continue to contribute to the Ukrainian economy.
In the first four months of 2026, non-resident companies providing electronic services to Ukrainian users paid over UAH 6.9 billion of the so-called ‘Google tax’ to the State Budget. This was reported by Lesia Karnaukh, Acting Head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine.
In currency terms, this amounts to:
• EUR 52 million;
• USD 97.6 million.
“Revenue has increased by UAH 1.5 billion compared to the same period last year. Among the largest taxpayers are: Apple, Google, Meta, Netflix, Sony, Valve, Etsy, Epic Games and Wargaming. We use these companies’ services every day. We’re talking about advertising, streaming platforms, online games, apps and marketplaces,” said Lesia Karnaukh.
Incidentally, since the start of this year, a further nine non-resident companies have registered as VAT payers in Ukraine.
In total, there are now 154 international companies officially paying the ‘Google tax’.
"A level playing field for all market participants is something we are actively implementing. Regardless of whether it is a local company or a global corporation,” added the Head of the State Tax Service.
Under current legislation, a foreign company is obliged to register as a VAT payer in Ukraine if, over the last 12 months, the value of its electronic services provided to Ukrainian users has exceeded the equivalent of UAH 1,000,000.
