March 7, in the city of Shostka, Sumy region, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko chaired a meeting on the creation of the State Reserve of Ukraine "The Statists of the Siverschyna".
"The preservation of the cultural heritage, historical memory and traditions is one of the essential elements of the sustainable development of any region, while for the border area of Sumy region it is of paramount importance", said Pavlo Rozenko during the meeting.
"The architectural complex of the Skoropadsky family crypt - Gamaliyiv Monastery and other architectural monuments that are mentioned today are of colossal historical significance for Ukraine. Gamaliyiv Kharlampiyiv Monastery is an architectural monument of national significance, it is one of the last monasteries fortresses built in Ukraine, here is a tomb of two branches of the Skoropadsky family. This is the only hetman's tomb in Ukraine. And today is the time when the state must assume responsibility and not just preserve this object, but also demonstrate it to Ukraine and to the whole world", said the Deputy Prime Minister.
On the outcomes of the meeting, Pavlo Rozenko instructed Sumy Regional State Administration, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Justice, State Property Fund to work on the issue of preserving the monuments of the Gamaliyiv Kharlampiyiv Monastery and other monuments of Shostka, Sumy Region, and by June 1, 2019, submit the agreed proposals to the Cabinet Ministers.
