During a meeting of the Coalition Council, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko discussed opportunities for deregulation in the energy sector with members of parliament, mayors, and experts.
“The Government, together with the regions and communities, is implementing Resilience Plans. We are preparing for the next heating season right now—taking into account the experience of this challenging winter and new threats from the enemy,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
One of the key elements is the development of distributed generation.
“We have a clear goal to ensure 4 GW of capacity across the country. To this end, the Government has simplified connection procedures, shortened installation times, reduced the number of permits, and updated the regulatory framework. This is already yielding results,” emphasized Yulia Svyrydenko, adding that there is potential for further simplification.
According to her, special attention was paid to requests the Government receives from businesses and communities regarding instances of procedural delays and other hold-ups by regional power and gas companies.
“This is unacceptable given that we are preparing for winter amid threats from the enemy. Therefore, I urge all communities and entrepreneurs facing such situations to report them via the ‘Pulse’ platform: pulse.gov.ua. If instances of abuse by electricity distribution system operators and gas distribution system operators are identified, urgent personnel decisions shall be made,” the Head of Government emphasized.
