On March 19, the Defense Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak met with a group of the Alliance strategic advisers from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Poland and Germany.
“I am grateful for the considerable work that made by the foreign advisers on the evaluation of options for building a perspective military management system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. All the advice of our partners will be thoroughly studied and the reform process will be extended to the defined terms. We have a goal and will go to it, choosing the best way to accomplish the tasks that will arise in the path of reform. All of you have joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ reform. The Ukrainian military has done a lot over the last four years, namely — stopped one of the strongest armies in the world. I am grateful for the constructive and effective work; you demonstrate unity in the intentions to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces to become stronger. We will be friends forever and I am sure that when we return the occupied territories, we will celebrate this event together,” said Stepan Poltorak during the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, the Defense Minister of Ukraine awarded strategic advisers from Great Britain and Lithuania — retired General Nick Parker and retired Major General Jonas Andrishkevichus, who have finished their work in Ukraine, with the Defense Ministry medals “For the Development of Military Cooperation”.
