Prime Minister of Ireland Simon Harris visited one of the energy facilities destroyed by russian shelling.
Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk showed the Irish government delegation the devastating effects of the enemy attacks and briefed them on the recovery needs of the Ukrainian energy sector.
During the meeting, Simon Harris noted that the Irish Government has provided significant assistance to Ukraine and stressed the need to expand assistance not only from Ireland but also from other European countries.
As a member of the European Council, he promised to explore the possibilities of attracting additional resources for Ukraine and to advocate for more active participation by EU countries in providing technical and financial assistance. Ireland will not stand aside, he said, but will encourage European partners to act more decisively in supporting Ukraine’s energy sector.
Mykola Kolisnyk, in turn, thanked the Irish Prime Minister for the support provided to the Ukrainian energy sector since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion.
“We are very grateful to the Government and the people of Ireland for their support of the Ukrainian energy sector since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The expert support and advice on energy issues, as well as humanitarian aid in the form of energy equipment, are particularly valuable,” said the Deputy Energy Minister.
Since the beginning of the war, Ireland has already sent 17 cargoes of humanitarian aid to Ukraine totalling 224 tonnes, including autotransformers, generators, power tools, gas equipment, etc.
