Stories of resilience - video project on the results of support for Ukrainian business launches

During a full-scale war, Ukrainian farmers are proving that development is possible even in the most difficult conditions. This is the focus of a joint information campaign by the ARISE project (Agriculture Recovery Inclusive Support Emergency Project for Ukraine), which is being implemented by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, the Business Development Fund, and the World Bank's Country Office in Ukraine. Through real stories of entrepreneurs, the initiative shows how international support helps to preserve businesses and restore the agricultural sector in wartime.

A series of videos will tell about the resilience of Ukrainian farmers and the practical results of the ARISE project.

Financial basis for recovery

The ARISE project was made possible thanks to the coordinated work of the state and international financial institutions during the period 2023-2025. The total amount of funds raised was USD 595 million, including a loan from the IBRD (USD 230 million) and grant assistance from the URTF Trust Fund (Ukraine Relief, Recovery, Reconstruction and Reform Trust Fund) (USD 365 million).

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine is constantly working to attract international support, so that Ukrainian businesses have the necessary resources for development even in the most challenging conditions.

We are sincerely grateful to our reliable and strategic partner, the World Bank, for many years of consistent support for Ukraine and its significant contribution to the implementation of the ARISE project. Thanks to the funding provided and the joint efforts of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Business Development Fund, thousands of agricultural producers have gained access to affordable resources through the state program Affordable Loans at 5-7-9%.

ARISE in numbers and facts

During the implementation of the project, significant results were achieved:

  • 13,072 agricultural producers were supported, including 4,701 small agricultural producers.
  • 784 agricultural product processing enterprises.
  • The total area of cultivated land is 123,562,044 hectares.
  • The volume of private capital mobilized (loans to agricultural producers) with the support of the project is USD 3,927 million (of which USD 235.6 million are loans to agricultural product processors).
  • Production stability has been ensured in critically important sectors of the economy.

Today, we present the first video in the series. This is the story of the Lan Agricultural Production Cooperative (Smila/Ploske, Cherkasy region).

At the beginning of the full-scale war, the Lan enterprise was forced to transport milk in barrels and distribute it to people in Cherkasy to prevent it from spoiling. Its director, Vitalii Perkaniuk, says that the war created an urgent need for support, in particular to launch new feed mixers, purchase a tractor, and even repair the roof. The ARISE project helped with this. Thanks to financial support, Lan not only got a chance to develop, but also an opportunity to help the army.

Watch the video to see how the company is coping with the challenges of full-scale war and finding resources to support others.

The ARISE program is not just numbers in a budget. It is thousands of real Ukrainian farmers and entrepreneurs who have felt support in the most difficult times.

Our goal is to show the face of this project and the real impact of international aid on the lives of Ukrainian communities.
