Estonia to help Ukraine develop its energy infrastructure
Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak met with representatives of the Estonian delegation. The meeting brought together the Deputy Head of Mission of the Estonian Embassy in Ukraine Vahur Soosaar, Programme Manager of the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV) Eva-Maria Liimets and CEO of Hepta Airborne Henri Klemmer.
The parties discussed the assistance of Estonian partners in restoring Ukrainian energy facilities after the russian attacks, as well as areas of cooperation to strengthen the flexibility and resilience of the energy system. In particular, Estonian representatives stressed that they would continue to support the Ukrainian energy sector.
The issue of delivering a multi-tonne batch of aid to Ukraine is currently being worked out.
Roman Andarak thanked Estonia for the assistance already provided to the Ukrainian energy sector, including 15 cargoes of power equipment weighing about 225 tonnes (power transformers, current and voltage transformers). The Deputy Minister briefed the Estonian side on the current difficult situation in the power system following the intensification of massive russian attacks on the energy sector, and described measures to restore damaged facilities and increase generating capacity.
During the meeting, the parties paid special attention to the implementation of cooperation projects with the Estonian Development Cooperation Agency (ESTDEV) on the reconstruction of Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
