The modernization of vocational education system will consist of three components - improving the management and financing system, improving the quality of education and developing cooperation with business. This was discussed during the first meeting of the working group for the development of the Strategy for the Development of Vocational Education today, October 1, 2020.
“Working on the draft document, our working group will focus on three main areas. It is an effective system of management and financing, updating the content and improving the quality of education in accordance with the needs of employers. We also want to include in the document the mechanisms that will help increase the attractiveness of vocational education among young people. In the draft Strategy, we focus on the Concept of Vocational Education, which was developed in 2019. The plans are to detailize the first and second stages of the Concept implementation and to specify the action plan in the draft Strategy,” said Deputy Minister of Education and Science Ihor Harbaruk.
The working group comprised representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa and Sumy regional state administrations, specialists of the executive body of the Kyiv City Council (Kyiv City State Administration), international organizations, the scientific community, public sector experts, employers and heads of vocational schools.
