During 24 hours of September 30, 146 fires in natural ecosystems were recorded in Luhansk region (82 fires have been eliminated, work on extinguishing 64 fires is ongoing). Through extremely difficult weather conditions (wind with hurricane gusts up to 20 m/s, long dry period) fires quickly spread to a significant area.
The most difficult situation developed along the demarcation line from Stanytsia-Luhanska to Severodonetsk, where forest fires became threatening for 22 settlements (Bolotynne, Stanytsia-Luhanska, Vilkhova, Malynove, Pishchane, Nyzhnoteple, Artema, Heyivka, Lobacheve, Triokhizbenka, Kryakivka, Kapitanove, Muratove, Oskolonivka, Bobrove, Borivske, Voronove, Syrotyne, Metiolkine, Severodonetsk, Baidivka, Polovynkine).
According to preliminary estimates, the approximate area covered by the fire of all 6 fire areas s is about 9.3 thousand hectares.
As a result of the fires 8 people died and 10 persons were hospitalized. On the operational data, the blaze has damaged about 250 buildings, 120 people have been evacuated.
A total of 1,247 rescuers and 209 units of equipment were involved in the fire extinguishing activities, in particular: from the State Emergency Service (SES) - 534 rescuers, 112 units of equipment (Luhansk, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Kirovohrad, Poltava and Kharkiv regions), including 2 AN-32 P aircraft and 2 SES helicopters; from the Armed Forces - 148 military and 14 units of equipment; from the State Forest Agency - 60 personnel and 56 units of equipment; from the National Police - 500 people and 22 units of equipment; other authorities - 5 people, 5 units of equipment.
The works are carried out around the clock at all 6 main fire areas.
