Background
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is a governmental agency responsible for delivering the majority of Japan’s official development assistance. Its mission is to promote economic and social development in developing countries and strengthen international cooperation.
JICA funds Ukraine’s Emergency Recovery Programme. In 2023–2024, three grant agreements were signed between JICA and the Government of Ukraine to implement the Programme (Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3). Notably, under the Programme and with the support of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, water management organisations of the State Agency for Fisheries received equipment from Komatsu, a leading global manufacturer, including wheeled and tracked excavators, multi-purpose backhoe loaders, bulldozers, and more.
