Ministry of Economy: Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade extends protection for Ukrainian producers against unfair imports
On 21 May, the Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade adopted several decisions to protect Ukrainian producers from unfair imports.
“Supporting and protecting Ukrainian producers is a key priority of the Government’s work, especially when it comes to safeguarding against unfair imports. If you are a producer facing aggressive non-market competition, contact the Ministry of Economy to initiate anti-dumping investigations. Ukraine adheres to principles of openness but is ready to protect its market in line with WTO rules,” said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko.
During the meeting, the Commission supported the initiative of Ukrainian producers and decided to extend protective (anti-dumping) duties for another five years on imports to Ukraine of:
- Cement from Moldova, russia, and belarus (imports from the aggressor state are banned under Government Resolution No. 426 of 9 April 2022).
- Coated anti-corrosion flat-rolled steel from russia and China.
Additionally, following requests from Ukrainian enterprises, the Commission decided to:
- Initiate an anti-dumping investigation into imports of cable and wire products from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Türkiye to determine whether they are sold on the Ukrainian market at unfairly low prices, harming domestic producers.
- Review existing protective measures nearing expiration on imports from China of seamless steel pipes and non-electrically insulated black metal products (excluding stainless steel and aviation products).
