The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal took part in the commemorative events to mark the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-1933.
The Head of Government, together with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, as well as military, government officials and international partners, joined the prayer in memory of the victims of the Holodomor at the Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.
"The mass murder of people by starvation in Ukraine in the last century is a crime that has no statute of limitations. We must remember all those who died and the evil that committed it," said Denys Shmyhal.
The officials laid candles at the monument near the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide.
The events were also attended by the President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, President of Switzerland Alain Berset, Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė, chairmen and members of foreign parliaments, and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
