Denys Shmyhal chairs Energy Headquarters meeting on electricity supply situation in Kherson region

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, chaired a regular meeting of the Headquarters for Eliminating the Consequences of the Emergency Situation in the Energy Sector. With the participation of the leadership of the Kherson Regional Military Administration and energy companies, the meeting focused on the electricity supply situation in Kherson region.

“We are coordinating efforts at all levels to accelerate restoration works following yet another russian attack. Together with the military, we are also working to strengthen the protection of energy facilities,” Denys Shmyhal stressed.

The participants discussed the region’s additional needs for equipment required for urgent repairs and the creation of reserves. The First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy of Ukraine instructed to expedite the delivery of the equipment needed by energy companies.

To strengthen the resilience of Kherson region, a high-capacity power transformer provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has already been delivered from the Ministry of Energy’s emergency energy assistance hubs to one of the region’s communities.

“In July, we also delivered a 1 MW energy storage system, which will provide an important boost to the stability of the region’s electricity supply,” the Minister of Energy noted.

In addition, based on requests from energy companies in Kherson region, the Ukraine Energy Support Fund has approved the procurement of critical equipment worth more than EUR 27 million. Contracts totaling EUR 13.1 million have already been signed.

In 2026, 52.8 tonnes of energy equipment and materials have been delivered to the region from the Ministry of Energy’s hubs, including 272 transformers, 90 generators and other equipment.
