Sergii Koretskyi: Government will conduct a logistics audit of mountain communities in the Carpathian region

Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi took part in a meeting of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and representatives of mountain communities in the Carpathian region, held within the framework of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities.

The meeting focused on accessibility and transport connections for mountain communities. At the President’s initiative, a logistics audit will be carried out to assess the real state of access to each community and identify problematic sections.

“This is about access to every person in every community. It means the ability to call an ambulance, reach a hospital or school, connect to gas and electricity, and ensure the availability of emergency services,” said Sergii Koretskyi.

The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry for Recovery, Infrastructure and Transport, as well as the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Internally Displaced Persons  to prepare the logistics audit within two weeks, in coordination with the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Health.

In addition, the Ministry of Education and Science together with the Ministry of Economy and Environment will check the provision of school buses in local communities and, jointly with the Ministry of Finance, explore the possibility of purchasing the necessary quantity of vehicles for communities most in need.

Participants also discussed the development of tourism, environmental protection measures, and the growth of the forestry and woodworking industries, which play an important role in local budget revenues. The responsible ministries were tasked with promptly working on these issues and presenting concrete proposals.

Special attention was given to preparations for the Carpathian Initiative Summit, scheduled for early September. Representatives of eight Carpathian countries, government officials, diplomats, and businesses are to take part.

The Prime Minister instructed the Minister of Economy and Environment to prepare a specific list of agreements and projects that Ukraine will propose within the initiative. Preliminary consultations with participating governments are also planned, including a conversation with the Prime Minister of Romania, during which issues related to border crossing points will be discussed.
