    Ministry of Health of Ukraine, posted 13 June 2024 18:49

    During the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2024), the 45th memorandum of cooperation was signed as part of the international medical partnership initiative between Ukraine and 18 countries in Europe and North America. The memorandum was signed between the Superhumans Centre for Prosthetics, Reconstructive Surgery and Rehabilitation and Charité Center für Global Health, the largest university hospital in Germany and Europe, located in Berlin.

    The memorandum was signed by Olga Rudneva, CEO of the Superhumans Centre, and Professor Malek Bajbouj, a representative of Charité, in the presence of Viktor Liashko, Minister of Health of Ukraine. The signing ceremony was also attended by Andriy Stavnitser, co-founder of Superhumans in Odesa.

    "Last year, during the Third Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, we launched an international medical partnership programme. Back then, 25 Ukrainian hospitals got "twin" hospitals in different parts of the world. Since then, the programme has been constantly expanding. The memorandum between the ultra-modern Ukrainian Superhumans Centre and the world-famous German Charité clinic is the 45th. It is symbolic that it was signed on the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference, as it is an effective platform for dialogue and consolidation of sustainable international support for Ukraine. I am confident that interaction at the level of medical institutions and constant exchange of experience along with joint developments will improve the quality of medical care," said Viktor Liashko, Minister of Health of Ukraine.

    The Memorandum provides for in-depth cooperation in the areas of rehabilitation and mental health, namely

    • joint research and work with mental and sleep disorders of patients with war trauma;
    • sharing experience in the use of narrative exposure therapy;
    • organising joint training events and conferences for professionals from different regions of Ukraine;
    • counteracting the staff burnout of healthcare institutions in Ukraine.

    It should be noted that international medical partnership is a horizontal cooperation at the level of healthcare institutions. The goal of this partnership is to create long-term mutually beneficial relations that will help strengthen the technical, expert, scientific and managerial potential of medical institutions. This will contribute to the formation of a capable network of healthcare facilities.

    In addition, such cooperation will translate joint experience into best practices and policies in providing psychological and rehabilitation assistance to Ukrainian defenders who have suffered as a result of full-scale war.
