Ihor Zhdanov: Ukraine signed the Council of Europe Convention on an integrated safety, security and service approach at football matches and other sports events

Youth and Sports Minister Ihor Zhdanov on behalf of Ukraine signed the Council of Europe Convention on an integrated safety, security and service approach at football matches and other sports events.

The signing ceremony of the Convention was held on July 3 in Paris at the Stade de France stadium with the participation of the leaders of the Council of Europe, UEFA, French Government and Ministers of the signatory countries. 13 European countries also joined this Convention. In particular, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal, France and others.

According to Ihor Zhdanov, the Convention focuses on three key areas: order, safety and security. It also aims to promote hospitality and safety of spectators inside and outside stadiums, improved dialogue between police, local authorities, football clubs and fans.

The Minister noted that signing of the Convention is a very important step for Ukraine, which enhances our international image.
