State Budget 2026: Over UAH 6.8 billion for the development of sports and youth policy
On December 3, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law of Ukraine “On the State Budget for 2026” in the second reading.
The security and defense sector has been identified as a key priority of the 2026 State Budget. The document also provides for economic growth, record spending on the defense and security sector, strengthening social protection, support for veterans, a significant increase in the salaries of teachers and medical workers, as well as investments in infrastructure and economic recovery.
The main priorities of the budget are:
- Defense - over UAH 2.8 trillion (27.2% of GDP)
- Veterans' policy, assistance with integration into society - UAH 18.9 billion
- Education - UAH 278.7 billion
- Healthcare - UAH 258.6 billion
- Social sphere - UAH 468.5 billion
- Agro-industrial complex - UAH 14.1 billion
Local budget revenues shall amount to UAH 873.76 billion. Interbudgetary transfers to local budgets from the general fund of the State Budget in 2026 shall amount to UAH 289.3 billion.
Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matvii Bidnyi focused on support for sports and youth policy: “The approved budget shows that youth and sports remain the focus of national policy, because these areas shape the future protected by our military.”
The final estimate provides for UAH 6.838.3 billion for the development of youth policy and sports, as well as the consolidation of Ukrainian national and civic identity.
This money is distributed as follows:
- High-performance sports — UAH 5.012 billion
- Mass sports — UAH 648.6 million
- Youth policy — UAH 150.3 million
- Consolidation of Ukrainian national and civic identity — UAH 27.0 million
- Development of sports medicine, support for higher education institutions, and scientific activities in the field of sports — UAH 865.4 million
- Support of the Ministry's activities — UAH 135.0 million.
