The Monitoring mission of the Ministry of information policy
of Ukraine has visited Siversk of Donetsk region, which is located about 30 km
to the line of contact. Advisor to the Minister Oleksandr Brygynets (MP of
Ukraine) has informed from the city that the signs of the recent war, in the
form of ruined bridges, are the reminder of the threats experienced by local
residents. "It's no secret that before the war the Russian TV channels
were more popular in the city, says the mayor Andriy Chernyaev. Perhaps, that
is why many residents have not uncovered hard anti-occupation policy, and did
not come out to protect Ukraine. Now we have a very pro-Ukrainian information
situation! There are 12 terrestrial Ukrainian TV channels, almost half of the
homes have cable television, and half of the population, in a face of
pensioners, have digital TV "T2" in the city.
Advisor to the Minister also has conducted a survey of local
residents and notes that no one regrets regarding the absence of the Russian TV
channels.
"Digital and cable television packages give local residents several dozen Ukrainian TV channels, people have a choice... Local authorities and residents are happy that there is something to watch, and there are plenty to choose from. In their opinion, the information space of Siversk, for the last year and a half, has become much richer and more pro-Ukrainian", - said Oleksandr Brygynets, stressing that the community is sure if the situation was like this before the war, everything would have been different.
