SSSCIP and Danish government discuss cooperation in critical infrastructure protection
The Chairman of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, Oleksandr Potii, held a working meeting with representatives from the Kingdom of Denmark, led by Permanent Secretary of the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities, Lars Frelle-Petersen. The parties discussed the current security situation, Ukraine’s cybersecurity architecture, and the challenges associated with protecting critical infrastructure facilities amidst a full-scale war.
Oleksandr Potii, Chairman of the SSSCIP, emphasised the importance of the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Denmark in cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection.
He stressed that Ukraine seeks cooperation memoranda with every European state, as this establishes a legal basis for information exchange, joint actions, and the development of response plans.
Oleksandr Potii proposed elevating international coordination in critical infrastructure protection to a new level by creating a forum for directors of critical infrastructure protection agencies from EU and NATO countries. The envisioned forum would serve as a political institution for prompt information exchange and the development of joint decisions at the level of agency heads.
"We propose to organise this Forum as a platform where information exchange and the development of key decisions will take place not only at a technical but also at a political level. This will allow for more effective management of joint resources and the implementation of best practices, including Ukraine's experience in countering hybrid threats," the SSSCIP Chairman noted.
Representatives of the Kingdom of Denmark highly praised the resilience of Ukraine's protection system. Lars Frelle-Petersen underscored that Ukraine’s experience is unique for Europe, as it combines the protection of civilian infrastructure with responses to wartime threats.
The partners showed particular interest in the model of interaction between the civilian sector and security forces. According to Denmark representatives, Europe, which built its energy sector for peacetime conditions, is now compelled to adopt the Ukrainian model of "war thinking."
