MIP: Apart from on-air broadcasting it is necessary to develop cable network in the frontal area
The Monitoring
mission of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine made a visit to the frontline city of Hirske of Luhansk region.
Advisor to the
Minister of Information Policy, MP of
Ukraine Oleksandr Brygynets has held a meeting with the acting mayor Tуtiana
Penkina, who reported that residents have the opportunity to watch via antennas
5 Ukrainian TV channels including "Inter", "1 + 1", "STB",
"Novyy kanal" and "Ukraina".
The residents of
apartment buildings, with the installed cable network, have wider access to
Ukrainian broadcasting, in particular to several dozen Ukrainian TV channels.
Inhabitants of the private sector in Hirske have to be satisfied with the
above-mentioned channels, but almost every house has a satellite antenna.
According to Oleksandr
Brygynets, this suggests that people are not just trying to expand the range of
channels, but strive to obtain information from Ukrainian broadcasters.
"It is
particularly pleasing to see the satellite antennas in the frontal area, where
the access is simplified to occupation TV channels. This means that people want
to watch Ukrainian TV, and that is why they install antennas because occupation
TV channels are available without such antennas," Oleksandr Brygynet emphasized.
He noted that the
presence of five Ukrainian TV channels on the air in the frontal zone is a very
high figure. However, it is necessary to develop cable network. This will allow
us to expand broadcasting in the cities and towns of the frontal zone, where the
Ukrainian terrestrial TV channels are not accessible.
"The Verkhovna
Rada of Ukraine and the Ministry of information policy, and the National
Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine are working out
decisions, which will give additional impetus to the development of cable television
in the frontline zone," said the Advisor
to the Minister.
Also, Oleksandr
Brygynets said that the Internet network is well-developed in Hirske, thanks to
which the owners of computers, smartphones, tablets have access to Ukrainian
news websites, and the Internet television.
