Ukrainians
have an opportunity to insulate their homes until winter and reduce cost for
utilities at the expense of the state - through the Government’s program for
energy efficiency, so-called "warm" loans. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr
Groysman stated this during the Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Forum’16, entitled
"Energy Efficiency Fund, Ukraine’s Major Start-Up. Laws, Investment,
Industry", on Thursday, June 23.
According
to him, the tools that allowed Ukrainians to use irrevocable cash assistance
from the state for energy efficiency measures were introduced in 2014. At that
time, everything began with a simple – provision of 20% compensation to
households for replacement of gas boilers to electric ones.
"The
program has evolved for two years. This year, the funding has tripled and makes
up UAH 894 million. This means that another 300 thousand Ukrainian families can
receive from the state resources for carrying out thermal isolation, and thus
save their own resources formerly spent on heat purchase, produced from Russian
gas," said Volodymyr Groysman.
Meanwhile,
the Prime Minister suggested that this resource may be insufficient, given the
growing demand for "warm" loans, but he assured that the authorities will
keep on working on the development of this extremely important area.
