
Development of in-depth and comprehensive free trade with EU is a priority direction for Ukrainian agro-industrial complex
The
implementation of DCFTA between Ukraine and EU is a prospect direction for
Ukrainian agrarian complex. Taras Kutovyi,
the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, noted during a meeting
with Ms. Sabine Weyand, the Deputy Director General
in charge of Directorates in General Trade, European Commission.
«Currently
the agricultural sector is a key factor of economic development in Ukraine. The
EU opened access to European markets for Ukrainian export of fruits,
vegetables, meat and grain. Ukrainian side is ready to consider the
possibilities of parallel increasing of Ukrainian tariff quotas in this
products and export it according to European standards,»
the Minister emphasized.
According
to Taras Kutivyi, the
existing indexes will be improved by upgrading the control systems of food
safety in Ukraine and reforming the national surveillance system of SPSA. It
will speed up the transition process of Ukrainian agricultural products to EU
standards.
«I believe we`ll improve much faster the existing
indexes in the bilateral trade in agricultural products,» Taras
Kutovyi stressed and added that experience exchange
with EU experts, technical support and improving of SPSA system are the goal
factors for the bilateral trade development.
