  • MIP Monitoring mission reports on stages of the TV tower reconstruction on Karachun mountain

    "The monitoring mission under MIP and the BRT Concern management informed MPs, members of the Committee on freedom of speech and information policy, on the progress of the TV tower reconstruction on Karachun mountain. We were also able to show constructions and auxiliary building on-site", - reports Advisor to the Minister on ensuring TV and Radio broadcasting in ATO zone Oleksandr Brygynets (MP of Ukraine).

    In addition, in recent days, a checkpoint on the demarcation line in Zolote was visited, the monitoring of TV channels, access to which have Ukrainian soldiers, were also conducted. Also on Monday, 6 June, in Lysychansk of Luhansk region, a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on freedom of speech and information policy, headed by Victoria Syumar, was held.

    Together with the deputies in the meeting was attended by: the Deputy Minister of information policy of Ukraine Tetiana Popova, the Chairman of the State Committee for television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine Oleh Nalyvaiko, a member of the National Council of television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine Sergiy Kostynskyi and MPs: Oleksandr Brygynets (Advisor to the Minister - chairman of the Monitoring mission of MIP in ATO zone), Vladyslav Sevryukov, Hruhoriy Shverk and Advisor to the Minister of information policy Volodymyr Filonenko. The frontline city was chosen for the discussion not accidently: in order to assess the capabilities of Ukrainian broadcasting and its coverage.

    Earlier, the people's deputies and representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers moved from Popasna to Stanytsia Luhanska. In every populated locality the officials met with ordinary people, they went into houses and apartments. People were asked about what programs they watch, what channels they prefer. The coverage map and the influence of Russian propaganda on the military were discussed. At the visiting session in Lysychansk, the installation of new television and radio equipment for high-quality Ukrainian TV channels coverage in border areas with Russia was discussed.

    Recall that on 6 and 7 June, the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on freedom of expression and information policy is holding the visiting meeting in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions (Lysychansk and Kramatorsk).

    The purpose of the event is the consideration of the complex issues related to ensuring access for the population of Donetsk and Luhansk regions to information resources of the Ukrainian TV and radio companies, print media, Internet sites.

    In addition to the deputies, a meeting of the Committee will be attended by the representatives of the Ministry of information policy of Ukraine, the State Committee for television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine, Ministry of defense of Ukraine, the NSDC of Ukraine, the National Council on television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine, the BRT Concern in Donetsk and Luhansk regional military and civil administrations, regional mass-media. According to the results of the visiting session, complex proposals to the Parliament, Government, and other authorized bodies of state power will be elaborated concerning the solutions on urgent problems of information security in the region, financial and technical support of quality distribution of analog and digital signal of the Ukrainian radio and television.

    It should be mentioned that the monitoring mission of MIP is permanently located in ATO zone. Advisor to the Minister Oleksandr Brygynets checks the presence of Ukrainian TV channels, talks with community activists, residents and employees of local authorities in the East.

    According to the results received, on a weekly basis at the meeting of the Commission under MIP the discussion is made regarding the collected materials from cities and villages of ATO zone. According to the decisions, transmitting equipment is allocated and installed by the BRT Concern, and the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine allocates frequencies for broadcasting.

    "The urgent question is the reorganization of the regional military-civilian administration's websites for timely coverage of the situation in regions, where ATO is conducted. The matter of a possibility of increasing publications was considered. The discussion was ended up with the awarding of journalists in relation with their professional holiday", - said the Deputy Minister Tetiana Popova, who during the meeting presented the MIP report on renewal of broadcasting in ATO zone over the last year.
