At its session on Friday, March 25, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the first package of resolutions necessary to enact the provisions of the new redaction of Law of Ukraine On Civil Service since May 1.

Chairman of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service Kostiantyn Vashchenko reminded at the Government’s meeting that a civil service reform is one of the key objectives determined in the Action Programme for the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

"We should create a professional civil service, the service which is focused on the needs of citizens, which is deprived of any political influence and complies with European standards. Therefore, the Government had elaborated and submitted to the Parliament a new draft law On Civil Service, which was approved at the end of last year and was signed by the President. And we are now passing the stage of preparation for the implementation of it", said Konstiantyn Vashchenko, noting that it is crucial to approve 33 relevant regulations until May 1.

At today's meeting the Cabinet endorsed three bills to amend a number of laws necessary to ensure the implementation of the Law On Civil Service. In addition, the aforesaid resolutions of the Government stipulate for the Procedure of holding the contest to fill posts in public service, the Regulation on the Commission on Senior Civil Service, the Procedure of calculation of public service seniority and the Procedure for revocation of civil servant’s annual leave.
