The news agency "Ukrinform" hosted organized by the Ministry of information policy of Ukraine a press-conference "Boysunmağanlar ... fevralniñ 26-sı - Qırımtatarlarnıñ Rusiye işğalinen küreş künü" ("The Undefeated ... 26th February is the Day of Crimean resistance to Russian occupation").

According to the Advisor to the Minister on Crimean information policy Emine Dzheppar, the non-violent resistance movement was deployed in the Crimea from the first days of the annexation, which debunks the myth of the full support of residents of the Crimea to Russian annexation.

"Several thousand strong rally, on 26th February 2014, in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine was the beginning of non-violent resistance to the occupation. There are many other forms of resistance: all other rallies, public statements in support of Ukraine and all of the Ukrainian, the boycott and non-participation in the "referendum" for the Russian Crimea, the rejection of Russian passports, dismissal from public service etc.," said Dzheppar.

Advisor to the Minister also noted that the Ministry of information policy of Ukraine has initiated the procedure to mark 26th February as a Day of resistance to the Russian occupation.

People's Deputy of Ukraine and the Chairman of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov stressed that "the case of 26th February" is a real political show trial.

"A year has passed since the arrest of one of the leaders of the Crimean Tatars Akhtem Chyyhoza. During this time he was offered to go against himself and to betray the Majlis. His case includes more than 20 volumes. He and seven others involved in this case are true heroes," said Chubarov.

Akhtem Chyyhoza’ lawyer Mykola Polozov told that the "case of 26th February" is a legal absurdity. "Persons involved in the case, including judges and prosecutors - are citizens of Ukraine. It appears that, the collaborators are judging patriots of Ukraine under the Russian law", said Polozov.

Note that on 26th February 2014, the rally of supporters of Ukraine's territorial integrity next to the Crimean Parliament was held. As a result, the occupation authorities opened a criminal case and eight of the defendants were Crimean Tatars. Akhtem Chyyhoza charged with organizing mass riots. He is threatened from 8 till 15 years of imprisonment.
