The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has issued a directive, thus approving a procedure for drafting a National Strategy of Regional Development of Ukraine and Action Plan to ensure realization of it, requirements for monitoring and result evaluation. The relevant draft was designed by the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Fundamentals of State Regional Policy", explained Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko.

"The adopted directive affords to draft long-term plans on regional development. Today we can outline our priority lines for the next seven years, and thereafter to monitor their implementation by obtaining specific reports. However, the accounting reports will be completely available. Each citizen will have an opportunity to see the progress of execution of current tasks in the region", said Hennadii Zubko.

The Action Plan for the implementation of the Strategy shall be drafted twice: for a period of three years and the next four years’ period. Monitoring is conducted every six months, and an evaluation of efficiency based on monitoring data - annually. The results are promulgated on the website of the Ministry of Regional Development and submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The Strategy determines the priorities of the state regional policy, strategic vision and a goal of regional development for seven years and the principal objectives called to ensure the achievement of strategic goals.
