Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk appealed to educationalists to submit their proposals to the draft law on education. He said in 10 minutes programme on Sunday, October 4.

"I ask you to send your suggestions to the Minister and the Chairman of the Committee personally," said the Head of Government.

He stressed that in the framework of a secondary education reform there had already elaborated a number of points to be included in the new law.

"We should switch to the selection of school principals through open competitions all around Ukraine. It has been done in Kyiv already, now similar experiment is underway in Chernivtsi. We plan to spread it throughout Ukraine", stressed the Head of Government.

In addition, it is necessary to introduce an incentive system to encourage teachers: "The better you teach children, the better results you demonstrate, the higher wage you get. And it can become part of a contract between the teacher and the school."

"The school requires a larger autonomy. Less pressure from authorities and more opportunities for the headmaster and for the pedagogical staff starting from choosing the people they want to work with and ending with an ability to spend their own funds to satisfy those needs that they consider a priority", he stressed.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk also emphasized it is crucial the following year to expand the computerization program in schools.
