"I was surprised
by the awareness of German business. We support the companies that cooperate
with Ukraine and are striving to deepen our partnership. We are very pleased
that the Chancellor of Germany is ready to further support our country. It is
crucial for the Government of Ukraine to successfully tackle the challenges
and criticism, and to do as much as possible as the population demonstrates understanding
to the challenges while the demand for change is extremely high," he said. In turn German
Ambassador stressed that the stabilization of the situation in the Eastern
regions of Ukraine will become a positive signal for investors. "I think it
will be hard to find new investors until we find a political solution to the
security challenges, however certain opportunities exist," said Christof Weil. Moreover, the participants
of the meeting noted that an additional impetus to the bilateral relations in
trade and economic sphere will be the establishment of a German-Ukrainian Chamber
of Commerce. It should be noted
that on the outcomes of 2014 the trade turnover between Ukraine and the
Federal Republic of Germany made up USD 8.4 billion, while in the foreign
investor list Germany (with USD 5.9 billion) has ranked second for many
years. |
