Denys Shmyhal and Anna Bjerde discuss priority cooperation programmes in Ukraine’s energy sector

As part of his working visit to New York, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal discussed priority cooperation programmes in the energy sector with Anna Bjerde, Managing Director of Operations at the World Bank.

“We value our partners’ support in the process of preparing the updated Energy Strategy of Ukraine. Our cooperation is focused on additional financing for the Re-PoWER and STATCOM projects aimed at strengthening the resilience, flexibility and emergency restoration capacity of Ukraine’s electricity transmission system,” the Minister of Energy said.

According to him, another important area is mobilising private investment in Ukraine’s energy sector and implementing the CIF Renewable Energy Integration Programme.

“The total value of our joint energy projects with the World Bank already amounts to approximately $800.4 million. I thank Anna Bjerde for her consistent support for Ukraine and readiness to deepen our cooperation,” Denys Shmyhal emphasised.
