Olexandr Sych: Free Europe is impossible without free Ukraine
"Free Europe
is impossible without free Ukraine today.
Our struggle for the democracy and sovereignty means defending the right of
each state to determine its priorities and to build its future
independently," - said Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr
Sych on September 23 in Washington during a round
table while considering internal and external (security) priorities of work of
Ukrainian Parliament of the next (VIII) convocation.
"The current
struggle of Ukraine against the Russian aggressor is the test not only for our
country but for the entire civilized world, it is global confrontation between
democracy and tyranny, freedom and slavery," stressed the official.
Oleksandr Sych expressed
gratitude to the U.S. Government for the firm and consistent support of the
territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, the implementation of
targeted policies on a large-scale counteraction to the Russian aggression on
the global level. The official expressed hope that the common values promoted
by the U.S. and the modern Ukraine will become the basis for further deepening
of Ukrainian-American strategic partnership and expanding comprehensive
cooperation in order to halt the aggression of the Russian Federation.
Vice Prime Minister
of Ukraine emphasized there emerged gross violations of the rights of the
Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians in Crimea and Donbas after the occupation of the
Peninsula and armed incursion of Russia in the East of Ukraine. “Brutal attacks
on the civil rights of our compatriots in Crimea and Donbas, numerous cases of
prohibited entry by the Crimean Tatars to the ethnic homeland, abductions,
arrests of activists and protesters for the demonstration of their Ukrainian
background - these are the problems faced by Ukrainian citizens.
According to the top
official, one of the reasons of Russian aggression against Ukrainian state has
become focus of our country on the European development.
