Ostap Semerak: Ukraine is ready to meet this winter
Ukraine has faced
very difficult problems relating to gas supply and meeting the needs of the
heating season.
"Despite the
difficult situation in the country, the Government took some important
decisions that would minimize the negative effects of suspension of Russian natural
gas to Ukraine. Overall, due to the steps of the Government as well as local
authorities, today our country is ready for the challenges, which it may meet during
the autumn-winter period," stated Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Ostap Semerak at the on-air program
“Shuster Live” on Tuesday, 23 September.
The Minister has stressed
that Russia offers Ukraine a completely unreasonable gas price: "This
price is not a market one... And the price that Russia offers is higher than the
price that Ukraine has found on the EU market."
Ostap Semerak noted that "if Ukraine had paid Russia at this
gas price, that it has paid the European Union for the reverse in the last few months,
our country would have saved half a billion dollars."
