Ostap Semerak: Ukrainians should apply for benefits on utility rates already today

Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Ostap Semerak, on air of the Shuster LIVE talk-show on September 23, stated that on conditions of an increase of tariffs for housing and utilities the Cabinet of Ministers has prepared to support socially vulnerable citizens.

"It is a serious sign that one of the Government’s solutions was to plan in the budget certain funding to compensate the difference between the previous and current tariffs. The procedure of calculation of such compensation is simplified at most. We have figured out that approximately 4 million Ukrainian families will need this help," the Minister said and added that presently only 4.5 thousand families applied to the social protection institutions for payment of such assistance. He explains that Ukrainian citizens have low awareness on their rights and urged the competent authorities to familiarize people with such opportunities.
