From August, Ukrainians will be able to apply to the International Register of Damage under 12 new categories: Denys Shmyhal
Starting from August this year, it will be possible to apply to the International Register of Damage for Ukraine under 12 new categories. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a Government meeting on 23 July.
In particular, it will be possible to submit an application for loss of life, internal displacement, and damage to critical infrastructure.
“The application mechanism will also be digitalised and available in Diia. The principle of ‘russia will pay’ will be inevitably implemented,” the Prime Minister stressed.
Currently, Ukrainians are already submitting applications to the Register for compensation for damaged and destroyed housing.
The Head of Government welcomed the EU’s decision to change the status of an associate member to a participant in the International Register of Damage for Ukraine.
According to Denys Shmyhal, the international depository Euroclear in Belgium, where a significant part of the frozen russian assets are kept, promises to make the first instalment of almost EUR 1.5 billion this month.
“The funds will be used to purchase the most necessary weapons, air defence systems, artillery shells and to develop our defence industry,” the Prime Minister said.
According to the Head of Government, Ukraine insists that in the future all russian assets in the West should be confiscated and used for the restoration and defence of the country.
