Yulia Svyrydenko: Government allocates UAH 2.3 billion to support schools, colleges and universities

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the allocation of UAH 2.3 billion to support educational institutions at all levels. The funds will be used to purchase backup power systems, modernise infrastructure, restore damaged facilities and prepare institutions for the upcoming heating season. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

“Of this amount, nearly UAH 500 million is earmarked for schools to purchase backup power systems, batteries, solar power installations and other equipment,” the Prime Minister said.

A further UAH 417 million will be allocated to professional pre-higher education institutions. Of this amount, UAH 217 million will be used to cover utility costs, while UAH 200 million will support preparations for the heating season and strengthen the energy resilience of more than 80 of the country’s largest colleges.

Universities will receive UAH 600 million for cogeneration units, solar power plants and energy storage systems, as well as an additional UAH 275 million to cover utility costs.

In addition, UAH 500 million will be directed towards restoring damaged university facilities, equipping shelters and purchasing the equipment necessary to ensure the continuity of the educational process.

The Prime Minister stressed that all schools, colleges and universities must be properly prepared for the 2026/27 heating season to ensure uninterrupted learning.
