Yulia Svyrydenko: We are working to ensure winter resilience

The Government is working to be ready for all challenges facing Ukraine’s energy sector this winter. One of the main tasks is to ensure winter resilience, particularly ensuring that light and heat are provided.

And that is what we are working on – with particular attention to frontline regions,” emphasised Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

On 27 September, a meeting of the Headquarters for Preparation for the Heating Season was held in Chernihiv. Reports were heard from responsible state bodies and heads of regional military administrations on the state of preparations for winter. Completion of all procedures is expected by 15 October.

This week, the Government also instructed that uninterrupted supplies of gas and electricity be ensured to enterprises that form the life support system in frontline communities. Particular attention is being given to expanding the capacities of distributed generation.

“Points of Invincibility – we are checking the readiness of the network and creating conditions for continuous operation if the need arises. We are creating opportunities for winter preparations at the community level. Associations of co-owners of apartment buildings and housing cooperatives can use the Affordable Loans at 5-7-9% programme for installing their own alternative energy sources. We are working to improve access to the programme,” noted Yulia Svyrydenko. – “Winter resilience is one of the Government’s priorities. The enemy will not succeed in depriving us of heat and light. We are working to be ready for all challenges facing our energy sector this winter.”
