A meeting of the Interagency Working Group on the Coordination of Integrated Management of Ukraine’s State Border was held

On April 20, a regular meeting of the Interagency Working Group on the Coordination of Integrated Management of Ukraine’s State Border was held, chaired by Taras Kachka, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine. The event was attended by representatives of central executive authorities and international organizations.

The meeting addressed:

- the status of implementation of the Integrated Border Management Strategy for the period up to 2025 and the results of the assessment of its implementation;

- the legal framework and the introduction of joint control at border crossing points between Ukraine and EU member states and the Republic of Moldova.

Serhii Derkach, Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, noted that at this stage it is important to strengthen cooperation with the European Commission regarding the conclusion of joint control agreements with the Republic of Poland and the Slovak Republic.

Separately, Valerii Vavryniuk, Acting Head of the State Border Guard Service, briefed those present on the current status of work on the new Integrated State Border Management Strategy of Ukraine.

During the meeting, Taras Kachka, Chair of the Interagency Working Group, emphasized the importance of further implementing joint control at border crossing points and completing the procedures for approving the new Strategy as soon as possible.

Pawel Sliwinski, Head of International Cooperation Unit at the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX), noted the positive progress in developing an integrated approach to state border management as part of Ukraine’s European integration and confirmed his readiness for further cooperation in this area.

Following the meeting, a report on the implementation of the Integrated Border Management Strategy for the period up to 2026 was approved. The need to strengthen interagency coordination and cooperation with international partners was emphasized, with the aim of incorporating best European practices into the national system of integrated state border management.
