The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the proposal of Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal appointed Ihor Petrashko as Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine. A total of 243 lawmakers voted for such a decision.
Introducing the new Minister, Denys Shmyhal stated that Ihor Petrashko has more than 20 years of experience in the field of economy and management. "I consider him one of the best economists in Ukraine, he will help us move forward amid the looming economic crisis," the Prime Minister said.
The new Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture stressed that Ukraine is now in a difficult economic situation, including because of the coronavirus situation. In his opinion, Ukraine will feel the consequences of what is happening in the world in 3-6 months.
"I see two tasks. The first is to support and balance the Ukrainian manufacturer in a situation where markets will close. The second, the creation of favorable conditions for the Ukrainian business and to continue attraction of investments, " Ihor Petrashko underscored.
