Today, the Parliament adopted the draft Law of Ukraine "On Anti-Doping Activities in Sports", which was elaborated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine in synergy with experts from the Council of Europe and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The draft law was supported by 342 lawmakers. This was announced by Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadym Huttsait.
"The draft law stipulates for the establishment of an independent National Anti-Doping Laboratory, capable of obtaining WADA accreditation, which will allow Ukraine to increase the pace of anti-doping. The Ministry of Youth and Sports has always been committed to the fight against doping, so we thank the lawmakers for supporting us on this path! ", the Minister of Youth and Sports stressed.
Apart from that, the provisions of the draft law expand the terminology of anti-doping activities; determine the status of the National Anti-Doping Center as a specialized state institution that organizes and carries out doping control in sports; main provisions on the activities of the Supervisory Board of Anti-Doping Control, directions of state and regional policy on prevention of doping in sports and obligations of public organizations of physical culture and sports orientation; the basic procedure for organizing doping control, etc.
