The Government approved establishment of the National Research Fund which will provide grants  for scientific studies and developments from 2019. The relevant decision was approved at the Government session on July 4, 2018.  

The resolution taken stipulates not only for the establishment of the National Research Fund , but also for the approval of the Regulations on the Fund. The maximum number of employees will make up 60 people.

Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Lilia Hrynevich placed a special emphasis on the fact that national research foundations designed to provide grant financing to the best scientific  research and development projects on the basis of open competitive selection are created in all developed countries.

"The government resolution will remedy this situation. The National Research Foundation is created as an independent budget non-profit institution. Its main task will be to provide support for fundamental scientific researches, applied researches as well as scientific and technical experimental development", the Minister stressed.

The work of the National Research Fund will be coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The foundation will be funded by the state budget, voluntary contributions, including foreign donors, and other sources not prohibited by law.
