The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Indian humanitarian grant assistance for the implementation of highly effective community development projects. The document provides for the expansion of economic and technical cooperation between the two countries. In addition, the MoU creates a framework for providing assistance to Ukraine for the implementation of projects, including reconstruction and recovery. The Memorandum was signed by Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India.

"Ukraine enhances economic and technical cooperation with India. The signed Memorandum creates conditions for grant and humanitarian assistance for the next five years to implement effective community development projects, in particular, projects to rebuild and restore Ukraine. We have agreed on a simplified mechanism for approving relevant projects - at the level of governmental and non-governmental organisations and the Embassy of India in Ukraine. We are grateful to our partners for their support," said Yuliia Svyrydenko.

Applications for grant assistance for any such project can be submitted through the Embassy of India in Ukraine from the relevant ministry, local and regional government, non-governmental organisations or institutions.

The Embassy of India in Ukraine will prepare the project report and will be responsible for the evaluation of the project proposal, decision and disbursement of grant assistance and monitoring of project implementation in accordance with the procedures of the Government of India. For each project, a separate Memorandum of Understanding will be concluded between the Embassy of India in Ukraine and governmental and non-governmental organisations of Ukraine.
