Ukraine is interested in cooperation with the Czech Republic in the field of energy efficiency
Deputy Minister of Energy for European Integration Yaroslav Demchenkov took part in the Ninth Meeting of the Ukrainian-Czech Joint Commission on Economic, Industrial and Scientific-Technical Cooperation.
"Ukraine and the Czech Republic have great opportunities for cooperation of energy engineers in the development of services, production and supply of electrical, safety, measuring, regulating and analytical equipment for surface and underground mining, chemical and energy industries. We have agreed with our Czech colleagues to strengthen cooperation in the field of oil transportation, development of the gas transit system, improvement of energy efficiency and reduction of energy dependence of our economies," Yaroslav Demchenkov stressed.
The Deputy Minister emphasizes that in both Ukraine and the Czech Republic, many buildings that do not meet modern energy efficiency requirements are "inherited" from the Soviet Union.
"The Czech Republic has carried out a major energy modernization of apartment buildings, and here we can see opportunities for cooperation. In Ukraine, it is planned to carry out energy modernization and increase energy efficiency of more than 450 thousand households within 6 years. Moreover, it is intended to thermo-modernize more than 6 thousand buildings within 6 years. We see an opportunity to cooperate with Czech colleagues in the rehabilitation of social facilities, which will be modernized at the expense of local budgets," said Yaroslav Demchenkov.
