Despite russia's constant attacks on port, energy, and railway infrastructure, Ukraine continues to ensure maritime exports and fulfill its role in the global food security system. This was emphasized by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba during a meeting with the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority in Odesa region.

The Ukrainian maritime corridor operates under constant military threat. Since its launch, it has handled over 162 million tonnes of cargo, of which over 98 million tonnes has been grain. Almost 7,000 ships have passed through the corridor.

"The security of Ukrainian ports today is not just a matter of Ukraine's economy. It is a matter of global food security. Despite constant shelling and threats, we are keeping the maritime corridor operational because we understand our responsibility to countries that depend on Ukrainian grain. Ukrainian grain, oil, corn, and barley are supplied to 55 countries around the world. For many of them, especially in North Africa, this route is the only economically viable means of delivery. Our task is to protect infrastructure and people and ensure continuity of supply even in wartime," Oleksii Kuleba emphasized.

Work is ongoing on a daily basis to strengthen the security of seaports.

The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, in close cooperation with the military, law enforcement agencies, and businesses, is implementing additional measures to protect infrastructure and ensure the safe passage of ships.

The safety of port workers is also a priority. Work is underway to install shelters to enhance the safety of port workers during enemy attacks.

Special attention is being paid to energy resilience. Backup power sources are being introduced, cogeneration units are being installed, and critical infrastructure is being modernized. Ports are adapting to operate under energy restrictions and combined attacks—all to ensure the continuity of export operations.

The Deputy Prime Minister thanked everyone who ensures the functioning of the maritime corridor. Port workers who load and dispatch ships every day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular the Navy and the defenders of Zmiinyi Island – everyone who is responsible for the safety of navigation and the protection of infrastructure.
