Government approves remote housing assessments for temporarily occupied and frontline territories: Prime Minister
The Government has adopted several decisions to support internally displaced persons (IDPs), Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced during a Cabinet meeting on 7 July.
He noted that this year, the Government had allocated a record UAH 15 billion to support IDP families whose homes have been destroyed. This funding has already enabled thousands of families to purchase new homes through the programme.
At today’s meeting, the Prime Minister reported that a decision was made to allow remote assessments of housing in areas where state commissions cannot physically conduct inspections, particularly in active combat zones and occupied territories.
“Thanks to remote monitoring tools, photos, and video materials, commissions will be able to document the destruction of housing, meaning residents of the territories of active hostilities will be eligible to apply for compensation under the eVidnovlennia programme,” Denys Shmyhal stated, adding that the ministries responsible for implementing the decision would make every effort to roll out the service as quickly as possible.
Additionally, a decision was made to support families displaced from Mariupol.
“We are launching a project for them to build municipal social rental housing, as well as a programme for preferential mortgage loans. This will enable even more Mariupol families to secure their own homes here in Ukraine,” the Prime Minister emphasised.
According to him, the Government’s rental subsidy programme for all IDPs continues to operate, and any IDP family spending more than 20% of their income on rent can apply for relevant state support.
