In 2022, a record UAH 157.3 billion has been allocated for the Medical Guarantees Program, says Viktor Liashko
The Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko together with representatives of the National Health Service of Ukraine, chairmen of standing parliamentary committees and heads of regional health departments discussed a draft Strategy for the development of the health care system until 2030. Its adoption will allow for providing medical workers with decent pay and good working conditions.
"Next year is a year when doctors' salaries should become market-based. The increase in the Healthcare Guarantee Program already includes the possibility to implement the Decree of the President of Ukraine on raising the basic level of salaries for healthcare sector employees. The chief physician must rationally and fairly manage the hospital's funds in accordance with the financial plan. The money, first of all, should go to the purchase of medicines, consumables, financial motivation of employees," said Minister of Health Viktor Liashko.
A record of UAH 157.3 billion is provided for the Healthcare Guarantee Program in 2022. This is by UAH 33.8 billion more than in 2021.
Also, within the budget of the Program, over UAH 26 billion is provided for primary healthcare, while over UAH 8.3 billion is planned for the treatment of oncological diseases. A UAH 4.6 billion resource has been planned for the reimbursement of insulins and medicines under the Affordable Medicines program next year.
"I would like to emphasize that the effectiveness of a medical institution depends largely on the head and management decisions of local authorities. If you want quality medical care, support your hospitals at the community level," the Minister added.
