Over the past week, units of the State Emergency Service, the Ministry of Defence, the State Special Transport Service and non-governmental operators have surveyed more than 6,000 hectares of agricultural land. The vast majority of the land surveyed is in the south of the country. This was reported by Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, citing figures from the regional military administrations.

“Despite the very difficult challenges for our rescuers and military related to the terror attack at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, the planned demining work continues. Last week, 6,383 hectares of agricultural land were surveyed. In Kherson region, 3,724 hectares were surveyed and 3,590 hectares cleared. In Mykolaiv region, 2,106 hectares were surveyed. At the same time, demining specialists were able to quickly neutralise mines from the aggressor’s minefields that had been swept away by the current,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.

According to the First Deputy Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, more than 127,000 hectares of agricultural land have been surveyed since the beginning of the year.

The four-year plan calls for more than 470,000 hectares of agricultural land to be prioritised for survey, clearance and demining. This year’s target is to bring up to 165,000 hectares back into use. This represents about 35% of the total area.
