Switzerland to allocate an additional CHF 50 million for recovery projects in Ukraine

The third call for investment projects aimed at Ukraine’s recovery, in cooperation with the Swiss private sector, is now open. The total grant budget amounts to CHF 50 million.

On April 30, Ukraine’s Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture Oleksii Sobolev and the Swiss Federal Council’s Delegate for Ukraine Jacques Gerber signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), launching the third call for proposals.

“While the previous phase focused primarily on the restoration of public and municipal infrastructure, we are now placing a strategic emphasis on supporting the private sector and market-based solutions. Along with the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, this grant program in Ukraine will also be coordinated by Ukraineinvest,” emphasized Oleksii Sobolev.

It is expected that projects within the new competition will focus on the sectors of construction, mechanical engineering, renewable energy, infrastructure, industrial production, agribusiness, IT, and digitalization.

As a result of the first call for proposals, 12 projects totaling CHF 93 million are already being funded and implemented in the sectors of energy, housing, transportation, healthcare, and humanitarian demining.

The second call for proposals received 37 submissions requesting a total of CHF 443 million: interest in the call exceeded the available budget by nearly three times.

In addition, Oleksii Sobolev and Jacques Gerber discussed the possibility of Switzerland joining the Industrial Alliance, which Ukraine is establishing together with its partners as part of the Industrial Ramstein initiative. Germany has recently officially joined this program.
