Ukraine is grateful to our partners for sustainable financial and political support in the period of challenges related to the hybrid aggression of the Russian Federation. It was stated by the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko at a meeting with representatives of the G7 and the European Union.
From the side of our foreign partners, the meeting was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany Anka Feldhusen, British Ambassador Melinda Simmons, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Kuninori Matsuda, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France Etienne de Poncins and EU Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Matti Maasikas.
The Government commissioner for public debt management Yuriy Butsa also took part in the meeting.
The parties discussed the stability of Ukraine's financial system, access to international capital markets, implementation of the State Budget of Ukraine for 2022, Ukraine's cooperation with the EU, the IMF, and the World Bank.
"I am deeply grateful to you for the strong support we receive. This is important for us! The unprecedentedly quick decision to provide EU macrofinancial assistance to Ukraine is not only a contribution to the state's macrofinancial stability but also a strong signal to international markets. We still have several problematic issues, such as limited access to international capital markets. But direct financial aid and over-performance of budget revenues allow us to feel quite confident," said Sergii Marchenko.
Representatives of the G7 countries and the EU assured the support of our state and expressed determination to help us cope with the existing challenges. In particular, the parties are discussing additional possibilities for new mechanisms of attracting finance in Ukraine.
On February 15, 2022, the United States of America decided to provide Ukraine with a sovereign loan guarantee of USD 1 billion.
