
Vladyslav Kryklii: Our topmost task is the development of transport corridors through liberalization of transportation services
On December 17, 2019, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii, as a member of the official delegation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is paying a visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During a meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev as well as talks between the delegations of Ukraine and Azerbaijan considerable attention was paid to cooperation in the field of transport and infrastructure.
The President of Ukraine placed a special emphasis on the necessity of developing the transport capacities of the two countries. "We should fully utilize the unique transit potential of our countries and develop the appropriate infrastructure. We agreed to intensify cooperation in international air, road and rail transport," Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The parties agreed to hold a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Ukraine and Azerbaijan in January in Kyiv. The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii will lead the Ukrainian part of the Intergovernmental Commission.
The Minister of Infrastructure stressed the importance of joint work within the commission: "The intergovernmental commission will work on liberalization of aviation and road transportation services, development of railway connection between the countries taking into account the logistical opportunities provided by the Black Sea, as well as the involvement of companies from Azerbaijan in the rehabilitation of Ukrainian roads and concession projects."
According to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan is ranked 27th in the world in terms of quality of roads. The President of Azerbaijan, for his part, called today's talks fruitful. Ilham Aliyev noted that there is considerable interest in cooperation with Ukraine among Azerbaijani business circles and stressed that much depends in this issue on the Intergovernmental Commission.
